Anyone who has searched for addresses in CRM-systems is familiar with this problem: the correct contact entry often cannot be found. Usually the search function is at fault, because it cannot correctly interpret the user's input. Even the smallest variation in spelling (or a typographical error) will prevent a normal search function from finding anything. This wastes time and leaves telephone customers with an unpleasant impression: "they don't know me."

"Krischanoffski" or "Chryschanovsky"?

The proper form for many address entries may not be clear – especially when working via telephone. Should the city be spelled "Boppard" or "Bopperd", is the correct name "Krischanoffski" or "Chryschanovsky"? A standard CRM-system search will not be able to find these entries if they are spelled incorrectly, even when they are already present in the database.

The cause: the computer compares the input literally with the contents of the database. For the PC, the names "Boppard" and "Bopperd" are not the same. Result: the user must ask the customer to spell each name, which leaves a poor impression. At worst, the customer will simply be re-entered – thus creating a duplicate entry.
